Spread over an area of 385,000 sq. m., the Powai campus in Mumbai is L&T’s oldest facility, as well as one of the most diverse in terms of employee strength and operations. Along with Heavy Engineering shops capable of building to global standards, and equipped with sophisticated facilities for fabrication, machining, handling & quality control, the Powai campus houses world-class Design and R&D labs and a Technology Centre.
In addition, the Powai campus is home to our IT & IT Services facilities, a world class Business Park and offices of various businesses of the Group.
The Powai campus offset its entire GHG (Green House Gases) emissions in 2016-17, thus becoming Carbon Neutral. Part of our Sustainability Roadmap 2021, carbon offsetting and energy efficiency of L&T campuses is a key objective and one that we continuously work towards.
The Strategic Systems Complex (SSC) is a state-of-the-art facility set up by L&T at Talegaon (Pune) in Maharashtra. It is one of the finest facilities for realization of series production and proto versions of Strategic Weapon Platforms, Sensors and Military Engineering Systems.
Cross-functional teams such as Design, Engineering, Project Management, Production, QA/ QC & Supply Chain operate from SSC in a cohesive manner to make this unit the best-in-class facility in its domain. The facility is specially designed to undertake manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing of a wide range of complex Defense products. Critical customised projects with World class Quality standards are handled in a professional manner to satisfy the needs of our Armed Forces.
